A hot Sunday afternoon. In the air conditioner's hum, I laze, doze, and dream. Winnie the Pooh, that’s me floating in the blissful world of Rumi. Aha. Read on.

Poem: When Winnie Meets Rumi

Winnie the Pooh floating in honey
Like the blissful Otter lying in water
All I did was to become a little child
On a hot, very hot Sunday afternoon.

A little daydreaming, I shall admit
The lazing, dozing, and dreaming
As Rumi says love alone in silence
Harmless, undefeated from a distance

Drowning in the elixir of abundance
An ethereal submergence of senses
The moments last as long as the sky is blue
Every wish ceases to exist without a clue

A state of stupor, drunken and high
The vicarious feeling of you being nigh
The impossibility of Winnie meeting Rumi
while floating blissfully in a sea of honey.

A childish wish — it certainly makes no sense
Can’t dismiss the truth of vicarious abundance
For its in Rumi’s place, Winnie finds the honey
And there lies our lasting peace and harmony.
