Poem: Untamed Love

25 years of engagement. Yet, it feels like a new beginning.

Poem: Untamed Love

When did we last walk holding hands
Looking at the green blades of grass
Or staring at the bright white moon above
Letting the breeze squeeze in between us

The silence between us weighs in
Distances shrink and expand between our hearts
When did I hear your heart beats so close
Placing my head on your chest — closing my eyes
Avoid a conversation or hold back a tear
Rings, flowers, and dinners — all conceal our love

All I want is for us to open our hearts
Together we will find our lives and love
Like picking pebbles and shells along the shore
The joy of finding the little things and moments
The smiles that leave the burden of this world behind
Open the windows and doors and throw away the keys
Let the whispering winds of love pass through our hearts

From this day on, we set our heartbeats free
Racing like the wild horses in the vast wilderness
Wind in our hair and beneath our wings
If this Valentine’s means anything —
It is the beginning of an untamed, unconditional love.
