If you have been keeping up with my poetry, you may have noticed that I have engaging conversations with Priya Patel, a talented poet and my close friend. Today, we had one of these interactions.

Despite living on opposite sides of the world, we manage to stay connected through our writing. Our verses serve as a way to uplift each other after a difficult day or to inspire the dreams we have while we sleep. We affectionately refer to this as our Twilight Tryst.

Poem: Twilight Tryst

Twilight Tryst

I am a world apart
On the other side of the earth
When I see the sun
You see the stars
And of course, the moon.
I sweat and toil
When you smile in your dreams
Yet we stay awake
In the colorful twilights
When the night meets day
And day meets night
The rainbow bridge
Painting our day
With colorful verses
And being there
To wipe any tears
And put on the smiles
For the morning that starts
Or the evening parties
I love this Twilight tryst
A colorful occasion daily
In our mundane lives.

Priya writes with great style, matching the energy of her Saturday evening.

I see you in your darkest hours
Often as I’m falling asleep
Or just as my day is breaking
and you have held my hand
through the cloudiest skies
with just a sprinkling of
your comforting words
We are the moon and the sea
shadowing each other
I catch all the stars you throw at me
and you shine on all my perfect little moments
This is our Twilight tryst

I am writing to match her boundless energy, but I am struggling with my sluggish morning. Therefore…

When I open my eyes
Or you shut yours
Traveling from the land of the wake
To the slumber land
We meet for a brief moment
And cross paths here
Share our verses
For better or worse
I become the star in your dreams
And you, the sunshine of my day
How we transform is magical
Thanks to our twilight tryst.

I hope you enjoyed our time together during our twilight tryst on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Have a wonderful weekend.
