Poem: There She is

I could not see her, but I could imagine her. Right there, between my eyes, in my breath, in my heartbeat, in my imagination. I know she is there and I just want to hold on to her. Can I?

Somewhere between my eyes
Or is it just my imagination
Or a state of meditation
My breath stops, shivers, and starts
There she is — there she is
At the core of my being

A searing hot feeling
And that overwhelming aroma
Of dark, hot chocolate
At the core of my being
Like a hot volcano
About to erupt
Like a dragon breathing fire

My heart skips a beat
And gallops like a horse
Its thundering beats
Rhythmic and yet unsettling
My nerves knot and tangle
Like two serpents in love
Taut yet tantalizing
Putting me in a trance

I beseech, plead, and pray
A desperate act for her to stay
Just like my fickle life
She tries to fly away
But trapped in my heart

My past, present, and future
Lost perhaps, forever
I just want to hold on
That moment forever as
My breath stops, shivers, and starts
There she is — there she is
At the core of my being.
