Poem: The Unseen Beauty
How can I not accept an invite from Sarah Polyakov when she adorns both the brush and the pen? I searched for my quill, that way I can just compliment my verses as a footnote to this magnificent artwork and poetry of hers.
Here is her artwork.
Her poem represents her artwork to the tee.
Poem 1: Beauty Unseen
Beauty beyond realms unseen,
Is found within a woman’s dreams,
Her heart a canvas, pure and bright,
Filled with hope and endless light. In her mind, a world takes shape,
Full of wonder, free of hate,
Where love and kindness reign supreme,
And beauty is more than what it seems. For in her dreams, she sees the truth,
That beauty comes from within, the Root,
A gentle heart, a kind soul,
Can make the entire world glow.So let us close our eyes and dream,
Of a world where love is queen,
And may our inner beauty shine,
Brighter than any gem divine.(Poem and image by Sarah Polyakov, 2023)
My response was to write from the beholder’s point of view. Here it goes.
Poem: THE UNSEEN BEAUTY
( inspired by verse and artwork of Sarah Polyakov)
Do we believe in our inner eye?
This question I ask you with a sigh
The layers of our mental onion have to peel
Removing the curtains and for it to reveal
For the beauty that we see
Only surficial and skin deep
Of youth and the spring
The pleasant memories we can keep.
The beholding of beauty
A culminating experience
Fed by our five senses
Filtered by our feelings
But to see the beauty unseen
Become a butterfly
With No weights of lead,
But open mind like its wings
Letting our senses wander
Seeing things for what they are
An unfiltered assault on our senses
the bearing nakedness of our souls
For the nectar in the flowers lie deep
Beyond the beauty of the petals
A butterfly knows this well
Its search, a transaction of survival.
Her beauty is not her youth
her coyness is not all that she is
Her heart is where her real being lies,
The unseen, untethered beauty
that we can behold.
