Poem: The Unacceptable Existence

They say it is a privilege to be loved. For me, it is a privilege to be in love. Rumi put it so beautifully. Distance, silence, solitude — work both ways. As much as there is a gap, the love is stronger because it is indestructible.

Rumi contains u and mi. He wrote for us. And, all I can do, is just write. And, I will. Because I exist. It does not matter.

Poem: The Unacceptable Existence

I am not Rumi.

I cannot write like him.

But, I can, I do, and I will –

Live his words.

Distance, solitude, and silence

The gaps created by space and time

They can make my love unacceptable

But…

They also have made my love indestructible.

Oh, I have tried all the tricks, believe me

Let it go, move on, and don’t look back

But…

It appears in front of me and in the present

It is a gift I cannot refuse –

The love that fills my breaths and heartbeats

It is an existential question

And, oh, I have answered and will again.

I live … and I breathe… and my heart beats …

Love is the quintessential me.

It does not matter if you accept.

Because, in this universe, I exist.

So does this unacceptable love for you.
