Poem: The River and the Bridge

Can a river fall in love with a bridge that lies across? I think so.

Poem: The River and the Bridge

A bridge across the river
But if you insist…
The river I am — I shall flow
under the bridge where you show
Where the rain and the shine meet
and explode into seven color-y curves

Layers of laughter … like a butter knife
Cutting through water
Yet drawing blood — I wonder
And the water gurgles in happiness

Pillars in the path, I wrap myself around
Just flowing incessantly, in leaps and bounds
Words and thoughts weave and dance
In spellbound silence, I watch in a trance

A bridge is fine, but no dams, please
A deep, dark silence in unease
Still waters, mine too, indeed run deep
Where to dip our toe, or take the leap
Let this unhinged journey continue
Even the river water-falls … in love
