Poem: The Dirham Dreams
In February 2024, my partner and I manifested our dreams while sitting at an air-conditioned bus stop in Dubai. Remarkably, those dreams began to unfold over the next nine months, and we officially started our journey in Dubai in October-November 2024.
During our recent trip in November, we dreamed of something even bigger and better. The poem embodies this manifestation, and we can refer to it as the Dirham Dreams.
Poem: The Dirham Dreams
This was a leap year
A year I believed in myself
More than the year itself
A leap of faith across the western pond
A manifestation of deep desires
In an air-conditioned bus stop
Closed eyes and open heart
A dream to start
Now a dream taller than the Burj KhalifaCounting the greenbacks
The clinking of the register
The usual things that follow —
The yellow metal, and the multistoried roof
And the cycle shall grow
An abundance that shall last the ages
In faith, through honesty and smart work
With a little dose of favorable winds
We shall set sail again around the globe
To conquer the seven seasThere are times when you feel like it
Deeply desire, and manifest over and over
Put in the sweat, blood, and tears —
Above all, the brain and the heart
Soaked in the Dirham dreams
Blossoming through Tribloom
For I shall conquer the world
And share it all with my people
Standing at the bottom of the Burj
Seeing the sky explode
Welcoming the next New Year.~Ashok Subramanian © 2024
