Only I remain, and the shadows of your sound.

Poem: Shadows of Your Sound

Today, silence is never really there
For I hear your voice floating in the air
Beyond the traffic and the worldly noise
The sound of your laughter and voice

Even if the days disappear so fast
The sonorous shadow from the past
Leans into the present like tall trees
The present loses its solace in peace

I wonder why you left me without a word
I was the nest, my dear, for your wandering bird
Your words whispered, spoken, and written
Always promised that every day you would return.

Days have gone by, I look at the open door
Every evening, I walk down the street to the shore
Hoping my ears will be filled with your symphony
Your words are music, silence is never harmony.

Deep into the night, I stay awake and alone
Wondering if I can mend something or atone
Was it the sound of me that you wanted to leave behind
A word from you, my dear, would be truly kind.

The stars wink as if they know a thing or two
Wherever you are, they can certainly see you
I stare at the blushing sun, westward bound
Leaving behind me and shadows of your sound.
