Poem: Romance with the Rains
This is an unusual collaboration. In the order of performance, I bring up the rear. But I am happy to, for the two poems before mine are so good that mine is just a bolt-on.
This was supposed to be a secret collaboration, so I am taking some time to get Priya’s and Chloe’s nods.
Chloe’s poem talks about the intricacies of rain, opening up an invitation for the reader to feel the showers of spring and summer.
Poem: Raining
Patterns and pattering
Raindrops
In a May puddleThe clouds
Have gathered
In sorrowBirds all around
Are flitting
Here and thereAmong the trees
The rain is bathing
All the leavesIn soft and tender tears
The world
Is gently cryingKnowing
Beyond the green
The blueInto outer spheres
Beyond the rain
Beyond our fearsRain
Droplets
Making circles
Dancing
In our wonder.

Priya composed a deep intimate verse in response. She is a master of intimate romance, and this poem shows how rain is an element of love.
Poem: Your Rain
pitter patter
shy heartbeats
emulating the start
of perhaps something newdropping of droplets
subtle trickle at first
like the first rain of Spring
and when I first saw youtasting tears
on softening lips
so easy for you
to drink of mesipping on my sadness
drop after drop
kissing beneath clouds
trying to set me freeso that I could be your rain …

Here is an invisible, missing, and overlooked piece of this rain of romantic verses ( or the romance of rain verses) between Priya Patel and Chloe Douglas.
I join the party with the poem about how the breeze or the wind plays cupid to two poems about rain (with the poets residing across the Atlantic.)
Poem: The Invisible Cupid
A lonely cloud flew across
From the hills of Scotland
To the vast deserts of Texas
Impregnated by the sun
Nudged by the breeze
A journey across the Atlantic
It rained on both sides
Poetic verses dipped in love
Yearning to meet
Did we just miss the breeze
That carried the cloud
From one Atlantic shore to the other
So, here I am, my friends
I am the breeze that carries
The cloud that carries the rain
A cupid that flirts too
Easily with the mountains
As well the seas
Caressing your flawless skin
For just a fleeting moment
Setting the romantic mood
Floating between the blue skies
Dancing across the green meadows
Holding the hands of the rain cloudCarrying the aroma of rain
Soaking wet in the raindrops
Spreading the scent of petrichor
The seasons of spring and summer
Birds, butterflies, and bees
Look who is beneath their wings
I am the messenger of love
The unseen alchemist of romance
The grandparent of the rains.
I wish for a dalliance with dance
Holding the poetic hands of
The Texan and the Briton.
A dance after which I shall disappear
For the romance in the rain
May have just come about this May.
