Poem: Nowhere Place, Still Time
Rosemary Davison is a profound poet, based in Toronto, Canada. She is one of the tribute poets of Ponder 2023.
An excerpt from her recent post:
One of the reasons they travelled from thousands of miles away was to take over from me so, after five years of supporting family members, Francisco and I could finally get away and take care of ourselves.
For the last month, we’ve been traveling extensively. Every step of the way, I’ve been taking photographs and writing poetry, often in situ in the location that inspired it, for what I plan to be my first official poetry collection. Once we return from our wayfaring, I will begin to share a little about this experience, but without giving too much away.
Francisco took this photograph of me standing at the water’s edge a couple of weeks ago. It’s a rare image, and extremely special to me because it captures a moment when I’m no longer keeping vigil, but rather looking outward to the world.
I shall not share that picture, but a representative one.
I wrote this poem in response to her post — ‘Nowhere Place, Still Time’
Poem: Nowhere Place, Still Time
For a person who
has given so much
mostly given it all
It takes a huge step
to receive and be blessed
Is absolutely new
A rare situation to be inBut the universe is
magnificent as is magnanimous
In its inherent chaos
There is a method
There is a plan
Givers get given
Lovers get lovedThere is a time
When the universe rests
watching its souls
soaking in its essence
In the nowhere places
And the stillness of time.- Ashok Subramanian © 2023
