Poem: Missing Key to an Open Door

Over the weekend, Priya Patel and I unexpectedly exchanged poetry. It began as a search for words, mostly for her. She was upset about negative comments on her Facebook posts, which I had not yet seen.

However, her poetry is often emotionally moving, soul-stirring, or heart-wrenching, so I wrote a piece for her, as a dedicated fan. She seemed pleased with it and we continued with our exchange. Here are the pieces we created.

I wrote about entering her thoughts, as a fan, just helping her mind to shift from the upsetting mood she was in. After all, poetry is the medicine for a poet, right?

A little lease of your time
That snippet of thought
Just about me and about me alone
That little curve of your mouth
The blossom of your cheek
The twinkle of your eye
Tell me that I owned that bit of your life
That’s all I ever wanted.

She was thinking about me, despite her state of mind. But you know, she is too good. She wrote:

I edited it 100 times lol. That’s what happens at 2:44…
