Poem: Insolence of formality

--

When I see people behaving formally, the essence of a relationship is lost. It is, well, almost insolent.

Poem: Insolence of formality

The tyranny of Venn diagrams
Pieces of us intersect
Smiles, handshakes, and poker faces
Masks on, let’s talk work —
Formal is the new normal
In this realm, silence is maturity
Words chosen with tenacious care
Please, sorry, thank you — if you may
That is how it is and perhaps, will be
Do what you got to do —
Let me know what is to be done
Right in the middle of the intersection
Like the shape of a third eye
The insolence of formality.
