Conflicts make good stories. But we don’t need conflicts, especially violent ones, like wars. Bev Sanbrooke wrote an inspiring and introspective poem that got me to write one in response.

Inspired by Bev Sanbrooke’s ‘Without Conflict’

Poem: In Our Hearts…

In our hearts
if we don’t harbor
harbor hatred for people
who look, live, and love
different than us

In our hearts
we shall disavow
the insatiable greed
and the mindless fear
just acceptance with love

In our hearts
if we let go off
the remnants of the past
love those who live now
for a better future

In our heart
if verses of love
bloom in abandon
Just like the one
You just wrote, dear Bev.

Here is Bev’s poem that inspired me.

Poem: Without Conflict

War would end
Ill winds would go
Treachery dissipate
Healing would begin.

Overtime pain will heal
Under every crevice a new day
Till we meet together again.

Corners feel like freedom
Outward people would cheer
Normality resume in eyes of children
Fear fray away,
Light glows of hope
Ill at ease will shrivel
Causes be of goodwill
Tragedy be gone
