Poem: Fountain of Fortitude
When the words become empty and dry, I immerse myself in the fountain of fortitude. That spring inside me keeps me and my projects going. I have seen people come and go, but the show must go on.
Poem: FOUNTAIN OF FORTITUDE
Weren’t there two wheels to the wagon
Running parallel but together
Master time speaks —
A wheel comes off just about —
When the train picks up speed
Left holding the burning candle
Dazzling words wither
The single wheel can still spin
Heard of Monocycles? The fountain of fortitude in me
Pierces the vanity of value systems
For some, it is a merry-go-round
For some, it is a hamster’s wheel
It is easier to devalue than dig deep
Can’t explain to those who can’t understand
From being creators to skepticsBut…
I say to myself — be calm
We have seen people come
We have seen people leave
It takes tremendous fortitude
To carry on and forward
Doing things that others ought to
And seeing things that others can’t
Finding the sunshine in the shadows
For it is not time for wisdom-speak
But just do the little things that we can.~Ashok Subramanian © 2024
