Poem: Babysteps in Haiku
I found my sensei, who taught me the rules of Haiku. Who else, but the venerable poet Priya Patel?
Now the Haiku that we exchanged. This is how we started. I complained about Haiku.
Haiku is too much work. Let me see if I can crack it.
Poem ( Haiku): MARTYRS FOR LUXURY
smooth silk apparel
worms dead in boiling water
martyrs for luxury
Another shot …
Poem ( Haiku): A STORY UNTOLD
A heart full of love
Spilling out as lonely tears
A story untold.
Today the 27th of April 2023, finally brought me down with a fit of wheezing and cold, mostly caused by work stress. During the day, my sensei jumped in. It started an exchange of Haiku.
Haiku is a 5–7–5 (syllable) triplet with each line standing on its own… but interconnected. So words and meanings have to be crafted. My sensei says no capital in the starting word of each line.
Poem ( Haiku series): PARK YOUR WORK
wheezing out blue words
laced with sneezes and achoos
finally he just writes ( Priya)sinking deep at work
health staring at abyss
now overdose of rest. ( Ashok)just for the moment
step back from crunching numbers
give your heart a break ( Priya)haiku is hard work
yet it is so addictive
big escape from work (Ashok)thinking outside box
tying words with red ribbons
art of poetry ( Priya)wise and weird words
suddenly start making sense
art of poetry (Ashok)in a day of rest
mind spinning poetry galore
will it ever rest (Ashok)
Ashok: Did I conquer the Haiku 5–7–5?
Priya: Very much conquered:) ❤
So will it ever rest? My mind spinning poetry. Well, as long as my sensei is around, you can expect more Haiku and Haiku exchanges.
One important learning yet: Haiku covers nature. We did not. But that is ok. We will learn. Till next time.
